How To Throw a Fun TV Trivia Party

ID-10098755Have a party with friends playing TV Trivia. Even old shows like I Love Lucy are still popular today with many new shows that someone is sure to have seen, will make this a party to remember and fun.

What you need:

Trivia Questions or TV Trivia Game
Card Tables and Chairs – or a comfortable place for teams
Pen and Paper or other (see below)
Yummy Snacks
Prizes for winning team players
Theme Decorations for Party (optional)

How To Plan:

Invite 8-20 people that you can make into teams of two or four. Different age groups can really add to the fun for different categories and shows.

Select a place in your home like the living room to accommodate everyone. Set up card tables and chars for each team. If you do not have card tables and chairs, find a place that everyone will be comfortable, like a team at a dining room table, another at the coffee table, etc. Set out paper and pen for each table. You will need pieces of paper for each question. You could also use a small chalk board and chalk or an erase board with a special marker.

You can buy the TV Trivia game online or find a local store in your area. You could also go to Google.com and search for TV Trivia questions and answers to make up your own list of questions for your game.  Make your list with different categories like Comedy, TV Shows of the 60″s, Dramas, etc.

How To Play

First have everyone put their cell phones in a basket or container you provide when they come in. This way not one is tempted to look up an answer during the game.

Play the game in 4 rounds with 10 questions in each round. As the questions are correctly answered, write down next to that question the team that answered it correctly. If you are playing with the TV Trivia game itself, have your piece of paper ready for each round and number the questions for that round. This way you can keep track and jot down the team on that.

Each team will have a leader. The leader will write down the teams answer and show it to everyone. For each question, give the teams up to a minute to answer if necessary. The team that holds up the paper with the correct answer first gets a point. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Have small prizes for each winning team player. Suggestions: Candles, Picture Frames, Gift Cards to a coffee shop, etc.

The Snacks

It simply would not be a party without the snacks. Trivia games are very popular now in Pubs and Coffee Shops. You could choose to make your party theme with either of those atmospheres or do your own. Since this is TV Trivia, you could do a theme around a favorite TV show or that era.

Try to serve foods that are easy to eat and not messy. Have paper plates and cups, plenty of napkins and above all yummy food that does not require you to heat up or reheat and be away from the game. Desserts are always a hit. You could make cupcakes or your favorites the day before. Make it even easier, have it all catered from a bakery or deli and just set it all out before your guest arrive.
