Honoring The Fallen – Memorial Day Facts
This is a holiday to honor those in the armed forces who died serving our country.

It originally was called Decoration Day to honor those who died in the Civil War.

Coming into the 20th century, all Americans who died while in the military service are now honored with Memorial Day holiday that takes place every last Monday of May.

On this day, many people visit cemeteries of armed forces family members and national cemeteries, and honor the soldiers by placing American flags at their graves.
